Did you ever have a great idea after it was too late to use it?
In this photo, Mr. G and I were ringing in 2008 in Reno with friends. I still have those glasses, and always thought it was a missed opportunity that I didn’t bring them to our wedding for a photo opp a few months later.
In 2010, again I kicked myself for not bringing my 2010 New Year’s glasses to wear during my master’s degree graduation ceremony. Maybe my youngest will appreciate these 2013 glasses someday – the year she was born.
As the New Year rapidly approaches, if you have a milestone coming up in 2016, it’s a great time to grab an item or two that you can use to commemorate the occasion. A few ideas are weddings, graduations or births.
I’m a fan of reusing things as much as possible, so if you’re hitting the party store this week, look for New Year’s items that either say “Happy New Year” or “2016” but not both. This way the New Year’s items can be used year after year, and the year-specific items can do double duty to celebrate other occasions throughout the year.
2016 glasses can be worn for a graduation, or used as a prop for a wedding photo booth.
I’m going to let my girls wear this headband on New Year’s Eve and then package it to send to my sister, who is having a baby girl in 2016. It could also be used for a bridal shower, bachelorette party or rehearsal dinner.
Here’s to hoping that 2016 gives you lots of reasons to celebrate!
