I didn’t get this post done in time for Throwback Thursday, but I still wanted to share some ideas from past Oscar parties because they are super easy to do and there’s still time to do it before today’s Academy Awards!
We hosted Oscar parties in 2011 and 2015, with mostly the same stuff. We started with games – the Oscar ballot, which you can find on any number of websites, and Oscar Bingo from How About Orange. (You can sign up for the list to receive the printable bingo card in your email every year.) Mr. G and I often print the ballots and/or the bingo even when it’s just the two of us watching to make the show more fun.
The prizes for the winner of each game was a popcorn tub filled with movie candy, popcorn and a movie pass.
We rolled out the red carpet (purchased at a party store).
I was about 5 months pregnant and not motivated for getting dressed up, so I opted for a photo prop (also from a party store) instead.
I also rounded up a few posters from films that were nominated for decorations.
No Oscar party would be complete without popcorn. We put out a variety of flavors.
Last year we hosted again and I added champagne cupcakes to the menu. I was so excited to find these star sprinkles in a local cake supply shop.
Both parties were a lot of fun, and even though it’s hard to see many of the movies now that we have kids, the games help keep it interesting.
