Last week was a doozy for me.
- On-call at work? Check.
- Work out of town one day? Check.
- Husband out of town for four days? Check.
- Weekend event? Check.
While I was juggling work and kids, two of my friends had busy weeks as well – one had a baby, and one moved into a new house! I really wanted to take them both meal baskets, but I had no time to cook. In fact, I cooked exactly one meal for my own family last week.
I was worried if I put the meal delivery off until I had time to make homemade meals, it might not happen. And I wanted to deliver the meal to the new homeowners while they were in the middle of unpacking and would be low on ingredients and too busy to cook. So, I put together the easiest baskets ever – and making two at the same time made them even easier.
I started with baskets and small vases from the thrift store. The main course was pre-made turkey wraps from the grocery store (healthier than pizza, and can be eaten with your hands – great for moving if you haven’t unpacked your silverware, or if you’re eating one-handed while nursing or holding a baby). I bought a box of cookies and split it into two bags to share between the baskets. For the new mama, I added Kind bars (one-handed snacks!) and for the new homeowners I included bottles of cold brew coffee. And that was that!

Moving Weekend Meal Basket
- Dish towels

Even though these were pretty basic, the girls and I had fun surprising our friends with treats on Sunday afternoon and hope we made their days just a little bit easier.
