WEEK IN REVIEW: AUG. 29-Sept. 4
Sinus Infection Blues: After being sick all last week, I finally broke down and went to the doctor on Tuesday for antibiotics. I’m still not 100 percent, but definitely feeling much better than I was a week ago!
PTA Mom Fail: I worked in Tucson the day Pumpkin’s school had its first PTA meeting of the year. I didn’t realize the time was moved up by 30 minutes from last year, and I missed the whole thing. I wouldn’t have made it even if I’d known about the time change, but I still felt bad.
Phoenix Cooks: Mr. G and I did a babysitting trade with friends in our neighborhood so we could go to Phoenix Cooks on Saturday. We had never been and had a lot of fun sampling a wide variety of food and drinks and bumping into friends and coworkers, plus getting a little kid-free time!
Scoop turned 7 this week! When she was a puppy and the only baby in the family, this would have been a really big to-do. She still was spoiled even though it wasn’t an all-day affair: scrambled eggs for breakfast, a new toy from the girls, and pupcakes for dessert! I made this recipe for the pupcakes, substituting applesauce for oil. We delivered the leftovers to some of our four-legged friends and they were a hit!
Pumpkin and Peanut
Pumpkin continues to have ups and downs at school, but there were more ups this week. She requested a chiropractor appointment and a haircut, and we did both on Friday, so she had a nice start to the three-day weekend and her bangs are now in much better shape than they have been since she gave them a trim in class.
After many failed attempts, Peanut finally went potty on the toilet this weekend. I made her stay on the potty and drink water while I read to her until she went. It took 16 books but it worked! Now if we could only make this a habit …
Today was a free day at the Arizona Museum of Natural History so we decided to check it out. It was much bigger than we realized and there was a lot to see – dinosaurs, Arizona movie history, an old jail, panning for gold and more! There was also a ton of people, so we will definitely go back on a not-free day and spend more time.
This is not anything new, but continues to crack me up that Peanut calls me “Babe!” and calls Mr. G by his first and last name. She’s such a character!
Favorite Meals this Week
I was a major failure at cooking this week after not getting much prep time last weekend. But one thing I have been loving lately are dates! I made a copycat Cutting Board Cafe Chocolate Dreams smoothie with coconut milk, avocado, banana, peanut butter, cocoa and dates for myself on Saturday, and tonight I am making these energy bites for the coming week. Mr. G and I tried them a couple weeks ago and loved them!
Nothing real exciting planned this week beyond having Monday off work and a haircut scheduled later in the week. Quite the relief because the following couple of weeks are going to be crazy busy! As always, feel free to follow along on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter!
