Disclosure: Freshly Picked provided two pair of moccasins for this post – one for Peanut, and one to giveaway. All opinions expressed are mine.
Our little Peanut was a late walker. It wasn’t until after she started walking at 18 months that we were referred to an orthopedist and learned she has flat feet. Ever since she took those first steps, she has favored Freshly Picked moccasins. Below, find out why she loves them – and be sure to read all the way to the end to find out how to enter to win a pair!
I have to admit, when I first discovered Freshly Picked I thought they were too expensive for shoes that get outgrown so fast. But I also thought they were adorable! I was lucky enough to win a pair before long Peanut started walking, and they were among her first shoes (and one of the few that didn’t go flying across the backseat of the car – it was nice to find shoes that fit snuggly but also comfortably). It turned out they were great for her feet! The soft soles are good for early walkers, but for Peanut, the fit is also important – she has tried many a shoe that, while they fit the length of her feet, are too tight around the tops of her feet.
We were so happy with the pair we won that I soon bought a second pair, and when Freshly Picked brought a warehouse sale to Mesa, I lined up to buy her two more pair (and another for my niece).
Peanut wears her moccs nearly every day, so I feel the cost is worth it. She’s worn them to school, on vacation, on airplanes, on trains, dressed up, dressed down, to museums and baseball games. Each pair carries so many memories, and as she outgrows them, I’ve set them aside to preserve all those little steps.
She recently received two new pair – an Ebony pair I purchased when her last pair was on its final days, and the Heirloom in Blush and Gold that Freshly Picked sent me for this post. I made the mistake of showing her the Ebony moccs at bedtime the day they arrived in the mail, and she cried because she couldn’t wear them to sleep. When I showed her the Blush and Gold ones, she must have said, “I want to wear my moccs!” about 15 times before it was time to get dressed. The kid knows what she likes! And she’s definitely one to fuss about her comfort, so I know she likes them because of how they feel.
It’s now been a little over a year since she started walking, and she still tends to lean in on her feet and point them out a bit, but she’s learned how to accommodate for her little flat feet so well that she’s even able to do the balance beam at tumbling (as long she watches what she’s doing). It makes my heart so happy to see how much progress she’s made!
