This week was a doozy. Each kid had an unplanned visit to the doctor, and one of them made her first trip to the Emergency room. Luckily, everyone is feeling good as we close out the week and get ready for a fun week ahead!
WEEK IN REVIEW: Oct. 3-OCT. 9, 2016
Peanut came down with croup this week, which began in the middle of the night and resulted in her first emergency room visit for a steroid to improve her breathing. She missed three days of school and it truly does take a village with Mr. G, my mother-in-law and myself each watching her for a day. We had a lot of rough nights of her coughing and me sleeping on a mattress on the floor in her room to keep close watch on her. She finally slept well on Saturday night and it looks like she’ll be back to school good as new on Monday. Thank goodness!
Pumpkin had picture day on Tuesday and her first field trip as a kindergartener on Thursday. Mr. G chaperoned a visit to the Children’s Museum of Phoenix and texted me photo updates throughout the day. She had a great time! (And that makeup was still on after dinner and I needed to use my facewash on her to get it off.)
Favorite Meals this Week
Last weekend, I purchased green tomatoes at the Gilbert Farmer’s Market and decided to make Fried Green Tomatoes. I ran out of Panko crumbs so I used half Panko and half Italian seasoned bread crumbs, and it worked out well. They were a little tangy and delicious dipped in ranch dressing. Mr. G grilled some steak and we added a side salad as well.
With all the sickies we had this week, we did a lot of prepared foods. However, I did have a bit of pumpkin leftover from last week, so when I ran across this recipe for Pumpkin Cinnamon Cookies I was determined to make it. Mr. G is not a big fan of chocolate, so I was intrigued by the cinnamon chips! I went to seven different stores before I found them, but my goodness it was worth it. These cookies are soft, delicious and addicting! (Seriously, I had to have Pumpkin deliver some to the neighbors to stop myself from eating them all.)
Pumpkin will be on Fall Break this week. I am working the early part of the week, but we will have an adventure later in the week and I can’t wait! As always, feel free to follow along on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter!
