The LEGO Batman Movie comes out in theaters on Friday, but that’s just the beginning of the superhero fun happening in the Valley this weekend and beyond!
The LEGO Batman Movie
Last weekend, we had the chance to see an advanced screening of The LEGO Batman Movie. Mr. G and I enjoyed it as much as the girls did! There were a few adult references that went over the girls’ heads, but plenty for them to enjoy, too. And it had more depth than I was expecting. Check out the girls’ review in the video:
Caped Crusaders & Everyday Heroes
Also opening Friday is the Caped Crusaders & Everyday Heroes exhibit at the i.d.e.a. Museum in Mesa. We attended the member preview Thursday night, and it was great!
There was so much to see. Superhero art work included renderings of classic comic book heroes reimagined from different cultures, sculptures and even toys. There were plenty of photo opps, from the comic book city scape (above) to a green screen where kids could see themselves on a screen with a variety of backdrops from Earth to outer space. There were opportunities to color, draw and paint; a felt backdrop with superheroes and various accessories allowed kids to use their imagination and create their own superhero story; plenty of superhero accessories to dress up in; and a book nook to sit down and read about real and imaginary superheroes. There was also a section on Everyday Superheroes, including police, military, firefighters, teachers, celebrities and more.
We are looking forward to going back to the exhibit on a weekend when we can spend more time looking at everything.
LEGO Batman Movie Days
The LEGOLAND Discovery Center at Arizona Mills is hosting LEGO Batman Movie Days on select dates between Feb. 11 and March 26. The star of the show will be on hand for photo opps, plus there will be scavenger hunts, LEGO-building activities, and more.
