Disclosure: Qalo provided a ring for this review. All opinions are mine and my husband’s.
Funny story about my husband’s wedding ring. Back when we were engaged I bought his ring from one store and had our wedding date engraved in it at another. After I picked it up, I thought they had ruined it. I was a pretty low-stress bride-to-be, IMHO, but this was the moment I chose to completely freak out. Turns out there was just some residue they hadn’t wiped off, and it came right off with a tissue. I felt pretty silly.
I placed that ring on my husband’s hand on our wedding day, and it remained on his hand for most of our big days since – holding our babies for the first time, signing the paperwork to buy our first home … and our second home. Until one day, a little over a year ago, he jammed his ring finger playing basketball and he could no longer fit his ring over the knuckle.
I offered to buy Mr. G a new ring for our anniversary last year, but he figured anything that fit over his knuckle would be too loose on his finger and it would annoy him. So, he’s gone without a ring for months and months. When I found out about the Qalo silicone rings, I figured the material would allow it to stretch enough to fit over his knuckle while staying snug enough to fit. So, I decided to get him one for an early Father’s Day gift and test it out.
When the ring arrived, I opened the package and whispered to Pumpkin, “Should I ask Daddy to marry me again?” She giggled and nodded. I asked him, he said yes, and this time the girls both giggled as I put the ring on his finger.
He’s worn the ring for most everyday activities for a couple weeks – work, the gym, etc. It fits comfortably for everything, including working out and swimming, although he still prefers not to wear it during basketball.
It will never take the place of his original wedding ring, obviously, but it’s nice to have an option of something to wear as a symbol of our marriage. And even if he was still able to wear his original wedding ring, this would be a good alternative to wear during certain activities and travel destinations. I’m thinking about getting some of the stackable ones myself!
