Well, it’s been nearly eight weeks since my last Week in Review so I’m throwing in the towel and just calling these Random Musings from now on because it’s clear I can’t commit to the weekly update right now!
Since the last update, a LOT has happened. Here’s a quick recap, with the help of a few photos.
When we got back from Cabo, the girls capped off summer break with two weeks of swim lessons.
We celebrated mine and Pumpkin’s birthdays with a family breakfast and movie date.
I went to Chicago for work for a couple days.
We celebrated our birthdays again with extended family, and the most random birthday cake request from Pumpkin fulfilled.
Pumpkin started first grade.
And then we skipped school for a week to visit my hometown (more on that to come).
And when we came home, Peanut moved up to the next classroom at school.
I went to see Dierks Bentley with some of my girlfriends.
And we celebrated Mr. G’s birthday.
Followed by Scoop’s.
I got an Instant Pot for my birthday, and have been testing it out. Do you have one? Do you have favorite recipes? These are the first ones we tried, and all were a success.
I finished the Persian Pickle Club and it was a really cute story and a quick read about a group of friends in a quilting club in Kansas during the Depression. One of the characters was an aspiring journalist, which I have a soft spot in my heart for. I started reading People I Want to Punch in the Throat, which was given to me some time ago, and a few chapters in I started feeling like the author and her husband were possibly worse people than those she was complaining about and decided it wasn’t worth finishing. Hopefully I don’t get throat-punched for saying that. I am now reading Sport of Kings, which centers around horse racing (which I also have a soft spot for). It’s very detailed in the descriptions and not a quick read, so I’m not too far into it, but so far it’s intriguing and I am learning a lot.
I wrote for Bumkins about packing Mother-Daughter lunches for work and school, and about packing for our kid-free trip to Cabo. I also chatted with fellow East Valley Moms Blog contributor Jen Bosen about why working moms and stay at home moms need each other during a Facebook Live. And, we ate a lot of ice cream.
