So, I started a new job this week (more to come on that soon). With the new job, I wanted to add a few new items to my work wardrobe to mark the occasion. Check out some of the things I picked up below! And for those of you wondering, “Aren’t these clothes a bit warm for summer in Arizona?” I ask you: Have you ever been inside an air-conditioned office building in Phoenix in July? It’s the colder than a summer in San Francisco! (Bonus: shopping at the change of seasons meant good deals, too!)
Blue ruffle-sleeve sheath dress on sale at White House | Black Market (also available in black). Paired with Bandolino wedge pumps in nude (last year). These peep-toe pumps are a nice summer alternative.
To be honest, when I first looked at these pics, I thought I should have perhaps bought some new shoes or new pants. But I am a working mom and not a fashion blogger, and this is how I live my life: a few basics, an occasional new item or two, and sometimes a an addition from a consignment or thrift store.
I have been needing a white blouse in my wardrobe and I love this one with ruffle sleeves. It’s Calvin Klein from T.J. Maxx so it was a great deal, and pairs well with a scarf or chunky necklace. (Pants are Express via Turnstyle Consignment and I’ve had them a couple years. Kitten heel pumps are Franco Sarto)
It’s the second Calvin Klein item in my closet, and the first one is a dress that I bought consignment and absolutely love. Once I wore the dress to a blogger event and another blogger asked me if it was a Calvi, and I was like, “Calvin Klein,” and the look on her face told me that is what she meant in the first place, which just underscores my earlier statement that I am not a fashion blogger.
This red blouse is from Anthropologie and has these crazy dolman sleeves (which I am now kicking myself for not getting a better picture of) but I couldn’t resist buying it because it was on clearance for $7.50 and when am I ever going to buy a shirt at Anthro for $7.50 again? Pants are Express via Turnstyle Consigment, and heels are from Nine West a really long time ago. (How old does something have to be before you can call it vintage? Asking for a friend.)
What are your favorite items to have in your work wardrobe?
